Sociology

Sociology as a subject for study introduced in Rashtramata Indira Gandhi Arts, Commerce & Science College ,Jalna. from 1991, if the establishment of the college. Up to1991-92 the subject was taught at UG level as an optional subject. Sociology subject has so many branches, following different papers are taught in Sociology department at under graduate level. Introduction to Sociology, Individual and Society, Introduction to Subfields of Sociology, Indian Social Composition, Social Problems in India, Introduction to Research Methodology, Problems of Rural India , Contemporary Urban Issues, Population in India, Sociological Traditions .

Whole society is the subject matter of sociology. Sociology studies scientifically social Phenomenon. Therefore it’s called positive social science. Sociology is related to all social and natural sciences. So, sociology is known as a general social science and as a origin of social science. Sociology studies so more basic sociological concepts which basic major concepts are as a Social Relationships,Social Interactions, Social Systems, Social Institutions, Social Change,Socio-cultural life of various societies.

Vision Mission

By considering the students as the most important element of education, the Department of Sociology has kept the vision for the students. The department desires to inculcate the following approaches in the students.

1. Creating scientific approach about society.

2. Making awareness of social problems.

3. Introduction of social life through the study of sociology.

4. Creating deliberate feelings of moral values.

5. Creating coordinating approach about society.

6. Developing the potentialities in the students .

The mission of the Department of Sociology includes teaching, research, and service. We provide disciplinary knowledge to Students of Sociology, to contribute in performance enhancement of human resource through Sociologically and Organizational Research, Training and Consultancy.
